of wearing face coverings while attempting to comprehend those denying science.
This is so stupid folks. It doesn’t have to be this way. Believe in the facts, the election results, climate change, the pandemic and vaccines. I’m finding all of this absolutely hard to believe. Once upon a time we were viewed as the most powerful model of democracy in the world. What the heck happened, some even went so far as to instigate an orchestrated coup on January 6th to overturn our Democracy. Now, how do others perceive us?
Now I know that the vast majority of you reading this are my friends and allies, but where is this silent supposedly vast majority? I can assure you they are not Columbia College students nor staff. We’re all vaccinated – no questions asked, starting with our schools President, understanding, comprehending, believing in, while trusting in science seems so damn logical. Yet parent’s are protesting and threatening teachers and administrators on FOX News – are you kidding me.
Meanwhile, since not everyone got the shot – were reduced to instructing in-person classes ALL vaccinated and with face coverings on. Again, those that believe in science are being punished by those idiots who believe in personal freedom or watch and worship FOX news.
Just this past week Spotify announced it was going to be clamping down on artists creating fake streams. If caught, your royalties will be denied and you will be thrown off the platform. And guess what, we should do the same, imposing the same rightful rules in our society – if you get caught with a fake vaccine card, or your not vacced, you can’t get in. Now we are creating the rules, in the NBA, our health care workers, airline employees and it’s working.
The Republicans on the other hand have created a whole new alternate universe – devoid of facts. Why can’t we call them out on this? They’re lying and they know it. I have a succinct feeling, these are they very gun carrying, racists, anit-vaccers that are causing so many of us in the education of students in higher learning to instruct courses, with face coverings on. For more than ten years I have had the great privilege to instruct music business courses at one of the most prestigious, liberal arts colleges in the nation – Columbia College Chicago. For the moment, let’s all admit it; this fall semester we are all operating at a distinct disadvantage – instructing courses with face coverings on. I might add, all the students, faculty and staff are demonstrating 100% compliance with the rules – and we continue to learn at a high level, just not as high a level as if we could all see each other complete with the facial expressions that allow a deeper connection.
Having said that, our students are smart, understand science (after all music is a derivative of science) yet even with their ambitious generosity of continuing higher learning with this obstacle we are prevailing and learning. My big question is why? How did this notion of anti-science, the anti-vaccers pontificate, and have any relevance to the big steal? There is none. No one in my circle of friends.
Like Spotify, lets; continue to crack down and penalize these offenders. Nothing is perfect, but let’s all understand metrics, accept them, don’t lie, and crack down (shut down) the spread of disinformation media companies that Fox News is.
